The West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition is seeking applicants for an OSM/VISTA position in its Beckley, WV office. Responsibilities will include collaborating with many different types of stakeholders in the food economy, setting up tours of local food projects throughout the state, documenting successful models, developing written materials, tracking food policy, organizing and facilitating stakeholder meetings, and working closely with the WVFFC Program Manager.
The successful applicant must have excellent interpersonal and writing skills, strong initiative, attention to detail, a passion for food and agriculture issues, and a willingness to be flexible and to learn by doing. A minimum of a B.A. is required for this position. Individuals with backgrounds in agriculture, human nutrition or law and policy are encouraged to apply.
As AmeriCorps*VISTA members, OSM/VISTA members receive a monthly living stipend, health coverage, relocation allowance, and an end-of-term cash stipend or education award. In addition to working with a statewide food economy network in West Virginia, through the Appalachian Coal Country Team the OSM/VISTA will have access to a regional network of resources and innovative projects, regional trainings, and real-world experience that can be applied to graduate school or a future career.
