When: Jan. 23, 10am-4:30pm
Where: Clarksburg, WV (location details to follow)
In Spring 2011 many of you attended the Regional Roundtable Series on Food and Farms, which included six events and engaged over 230 people. These events, hosted by a collaborative of partners including the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition, WVU Extension Service, the WV Department of Education and others listed below, were a first step in developing the West Virginia Food Charter -- a roadmap for action that will help us all focus, measure and celebrate our collective progress towards a stronger local food system in West Virginia.
Now it's time to move to the next step by looking more closely at a few key issues in our food and farm economy.
We invite you to join us for a statewide convening on January 23, featuring concurrent, day-long sessions on four key food system issues, and the opportunity to join working groups. Through lively activities and facilitated discussion, participants will share knowledge on their issue, discuss long-term collaborations, and take the Regional Roundtable recommendations to the next level with a collaborative action plan.
Registration will open in early December. Limited stipends will be available for those planning to use personal time to attend. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Savanna Lyons, Program Manager of the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (304) 673-0053.
Note: We understand that work schedules make weekdays difficult for many people. We also understand while some people have budgeted funds to cover their travel to this kind of event, many others don't. To address this, we will offer a limited number of stipends to individuals who must use their personal time and/or pay travel costs out of pocket in order to attend. Details will be provided with registration.
